Since Liz and Tyler are headed over to Italy soon, they invited me to be a guest on their blog to share one of my healthy recipes with you guys! I too recently visited Italy and boy-oh-boy it was an incredible place! The history, the FOOD, the people, the culture…all I have to say was Italy was magnifico! Fantastico! Spettacolare! Doesn’t everything even sound so much better in Italian??
While they enjoy themselves in one of the most romantic and coolest places that I’ve ever been, we’ll live vicariously through them and do our best to eat clean at the same time! So I’ll do my best to help us by sharing a healthy and yummy recipe I created for my blog not too long ago!
BUT first, when we think of Italy, what’s the first thing that comes to mind….? C’mon now, let’s be real here…PIZZA and PASTA of course! Well, what if I told you there’s a way to get both of those in one meal, while still eating clean at the same time! Yep, that’s right!! A Spaghetti Squash Pizza Boat is sure to satisfy your cravings for both pizza AND pasta, while still being healthy all at the same time! So here’s my recipe for a Baked Turkey Sausage Spaghetti Squash Pizza Boat:
- 1 Half Spaghetti Squash (or 2 Cups), Cooked (see recipe here)
- 1/2 Cup Spaghetti Sauce (or Pizza Sauce)
- 1/4 Cup Fat Free Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
- 1/2 Jennie-O Spicy Italian Turkey Sausage
- Pizza Seasoning to taste (or oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, and garlic powder mixed)
While your Super Simple Spaghetti Squash is baking in the oven, place turkey sausage on a heated skillet over medium heat. Take wooden spoon and break up turkey sausage into small pieces and cook until done, set aside.
Once your Super Simple Spaghetti Squash and turkey sausage are cooked and ready, top with sauce, turkey sausage, shredded mozzarella, and pizza seasoning.
You can choose to scoop the spaghetti sausage and place on plate, or just eat right out of the boat! Enjoy!
