This Strawberry Mango Jicama Salsa Recipe is the perfect summer snack. Paleo, Whole 30 and Vegan, it’s great with chips or on top of fish/chicken.
Have you guys gotten on the fresh salsa train yet!? A few weeks ago I mentioned that I’m LOVING making my own salsa.. and those feelings haven’t changed! I hadn’t ever made fresh salsa until a few weeks ago.. and now I’m totally hooked. It started out on a whim because I had gotten myself hooked on this semi-expensive salsa from Whole Foods. Knowing that there was no way I could continue to keep up paying for my salsa habit, I had to find a work around. Making my own salsa seemed like a pretty simple way to fix the dilemma, but I might have started an even bigger problem, because now I can’t stop making salsa!
I don’t know if it’s because it’s so hot out, or if I’m just a chip/snacking fiend, but salsa in the summer time is really just the best. It’s easy to make, it’s yummy, and it goes great with pretty much anything. Plus, you can impress all of your friends with it. Homemade salsa just sounds/looks super fancy, when in reality all it requires is some chopped fruit/veggies, lime juice, and seasonings (but you don’t have to tell them that).
Now this Strawberry Mango Jicama Salsa isn’t exactly your typical salsa. You might actually be looking at the title and thinking.. hm.. I’m not sure how I feel about mangoes and strawberries in my salsa. Or jica-what? But I promise you, it’s a delicious combo. Jicama is a root veggie that is similar to a turnip. It’s really crunchy and takes on the flavor of whatever you put with it, making it perfect for putting next to sweet fruit + citrus juice!
If you’ve seen my recipe for Healthy Peach Cucumber Salsa, you know that the only reason I even started making salsa was because I wanted to save money on my favorite fresh salsa from Whole Foods. This Strawberry Mango Jicama Salsa recipe is made with pretty much the same ingredients, except I swapped pineapple out for strawberries. With there being so many fresh, yummy summer berries – I couldn’t pass up adding them in, and I think my version is actually better than what you get at the store!
- ¾ cup chopped jicama
- ¼ cup chopped strawberries
- ¼ cup chopped mango
- ¼ cup chopped onion
- Juice of one lime
- ⅛ teaspoon hot pepper flakes
- 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro
- salt & pepper, to taste
- In a large bowl, combine all ingredients, stirring until completely mixed.

Things we used for this recipe: citrus juicer, hot pepper flakes, sea salt, pepper
Next time you’re having friends over or you’re heading to a party, make a big bowl of this. I promise you it won’t last very long, and your friends will think you’re practically a chef!
