Use up your ripe bananas in this Healthy Banana Chocolate Chip Cake. A sweet treat for breakfast, or perfect for an afternoon snack with your coffee! Vegan, gluten free + dairy free.
Over the weekend when I was making this cake/writing this post I kind of realized that I have an obsession with cakes/sweets. I mean this doesn’t come as a surprise to me, I’m well aware that I have a sweet tooth.. but in looking at my site I realized that I haven’t posted a savory recipe since this Paleo Turkey Chili. Sorry guys… I’m kinda slackin’.
It’s not that I don’t love savory recipes… cause I do. If you’re members of our email list you already know this because we shared exactly what we were eating for dinner this week.. (If you’re not on the list you can click here and scroll down to subscribe! We’re always sharing exclusive content.) This Cheesy Sausage Pasta Skillet was or dinner last night and gets a 10/10 in our book. SO good. Buuuut… I mean anything that has cheesy in the title is bound to be delicious, right?
Anyways, I know you guys like the sweet recipes, cause they’re always the most popular ones on our site! I wouldn’t want to disappoint you, so let me introduce you to this Healthy Banana Chocolate Chip Cake. It’s about to become your favorite breakfast.
Tyler is kind of obsessed with banana bread. When we first started dating he always asked me to make it, and now it’s pretty much always in our house. I think he purposely buys way to many bananas and then doesn’t eat them specifically so they can get ripe and I have to make it for him!
Last week we had about 7 ripe bananas that I knew I needed to put to use. I also had a cabinet full (and I mean FULL) of baking supplies because I had just stocked up on Lucky Vitamin. I’ve posted about Lucky Vitamin before… Most of you already know that I love them, but for those of you that don’t know, I’m about to change the way you shop! Lucky Vitamin has everything from chocolate chips to natural candles.
I literally get everything from there. My favorite popcorn, chocolate chips, almond meal… you name it, they’ve got it. Plus it’s SO cheap and the shipping is super quick! Everything is about a quarter of the price of what it would be at my local natural food store, and gets delivered within a few days! It’s awesome! I got everything I needed for this recipe from there.

Our Banana Bread Recipe is pretty delicious, but I wanted to try making it to fun, bite sized squares that were easier for packing for breakfast/snacks. I know sometimes when I make a banana bread in a loaf pan it’s great, but if you only want a tiny piece it can make a ton of crumbs and get super messy. These squares are great for portioning out, and for sharing! And that chocolate drizzle…who could pass that up?!
