Healthy Peanut Butter Banana Ice Cream is the most delicious dessert. Made with only 3 simple ingredients – you’re going to want to enjoy a giant bowl!
In a perfect world, ice cream would have the nutritional value of a bowl full of raw broccoli. Amirite? Unfortunately, it doesn’t. In fact.. it really has no nutritional value. (Bummer) You could say it has some calcium.. but even that is a stretch. Most ice creams are high in fat, high in sugar, and contain a million mystery ingredients that you need a PhD to even spell. With the exception of a few companies who have made better-for-you ice cream options – it’s slim pickings for us healthy peeps with a serious sweet tooth.
Regardless, if it were up to me.. I’d eat ice cream everyday. Doesn’t matter if it’s 100 degrees out or 30 degrees out, I’m always down for ice cream. My absolute favorite flavor is Peanut Butter Chocolate. A local ice cream shop makes this flavor that the creamiest peanut butter ice cream with huge chunks of chocolate… talk about heavenly!

Tyler and I go out for the full fat, sugary, delicious ice cream or frozen yogurt once a week. It’s our little treat – and I look forward to it through out the summer. (Like I’ve said before, we’re full believers in the 80/20 rule- and everything in moderation 😉 ) However, during the other 6 days out of the week when I’m not eating the delicious dessert.. I ALWAYS crave it!
A while back I watched a video on how to make ‘banana nice cream’ and was super intrigued. When I tried it, I knew those raw vegans were on to something. You literally just take a frozen banana and blend it. Super easy, and super delicious. I figured if I added in some peanut butter and chocolate – it could be the solution to my ice cream addiction. While it isn’t the same as real ice cream, it is the perfect treat to hold me over til our next ice cream date 🙂 Plus, it’s only 3 ingredients, vegan, dairy free, and takes about 2 minutes to make!
- 2 large frozen bananas
- 1 tablespoon creamy peanut butter
- 1 tablespoon mini chocolate chips
- Allow bananas to defrost for about 10 minutes.
- Place in a nutribullet or food processer + blend with peanut butter.
- When thoroughly blended, stir in chocolate chips.
- Place in freezer for 10-15 minutes for ice-cream like consistency, or enjoy as is.
