If you love everything bagels – you need to try Everything Bagel Chicken Salad! This chicken salad is salty and savory just like your favorite bagels – with a little crunch to it.

You’d never know that this chicken salad is secretly healthy, low carb and high in protein!

Make it in under 15 minutes by using pre-cooked chicken. This is going to be your new favorite lunch!

Tips for the best chicken Salad

  1. Save time and get a rotisserie chicken – You can cook the chicken yourself, but it’s so much easier to buy a rotisserie chicken and shred it. Chop it up and you’re good to go!
  2. Stir really well – Make sure to really mix this together, because the bagel seasoning can get stuck!
  3. Don’t skip the scallions – The scallions add a ton of flavor to this recipe, so make sure you don’t skip them!

Ingredients

Ingredients for everything bagel chicken salad in small bowls: shredded chicken, plain nonfat greek yogurt, celery, white onion, scallions, garlic powder, onion powder, everything bagel seasoning

Substitutions

Chicken – You can sub chicken for tuna if you’d like. I have not tried canned chicken in this recipe but I think it would work. You can use a rotisserie chicken that you shred to save time, or try our shredded crockpot chicken or shredded instant pot chicken.

Yogurt – I like to use plain, unflavored, non-fat greek yogurt in this recipe. You can use 1%, 2%, or full fat yogurt if you like. Don’t use a flavored/sweetened yogurt in this recipe.

Scallions/Onion – Don’t skip the scallions or onion, they really add a lot of flavor! You can sub red onion for white onion.

Everything Bagel Seasoning – Make sure to shake up your seasoning so you’re getting a mix of all the seeds. Sometimes the salt isn’t evenly distributed! For a different flavor, try our Taco Chicken Salad.

Dairy Free – I have not tried this with dairy free yogurt, but I think it would work. Make sure that your yogurt is unsweetened, plain yogurt.

Add fresh and/or dried fruit – We have a Greek yogurt chicken salad recipe that includes chopped apples.

Cheese: This recipe doesn’t have any cheese aded to it, but I think it would be good with feta or goat cheese crumbles stirred in!

How to Make Everything Bagel Chicken Salad

First you’ll want to cook your chicken. You can use crockpot shredded chicken, instant pot shredded chicken, or buy a rotisserie chicken and shred it (that’s my favorite method!)

All ingredients for everything bagel chicken salad in a clear bowl before mixing.

  1. Toss together using a spatula until all ingredients are thoroughly coated with yogurt.

How to Serve

Our favorite way to serve this gluten free chicken salad is on a sandwich or a strawberry goat cheese salad with a healthy salad dressing or some chips on the side.

You could also serve it over a bagel, sweet potato ‘toast’ or with crackers as a ‘dip’.

Lettuce wraps are also yummy if you’re looking for a lower carb/keto option, or you can serve it alongside a Fruit Salad.

Storing Leftovers

This healthy chicken salad is great for meal prep because it lasts for a while in the fridge!

Storing: You can keep this everything bagel chicken salad in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 4 days. After that, it will lose its freshness.

Freezing: Don’t freeze chicken salad. The yogurt will ruin the texture of it!

How long can I keep chicken salad out of the refrigerator? Because this has cooked chicken in it and dairy, we wouldn’t recommend leaving it out of the fridge for more than 2 hours.

Reheating: You can reheat this recipe in the microwave, toaster oven, oven or on the stove.

So yummy and great crunch. I don’t love buying premade chicken salad, it gives me the ick. But having a simple healthy recipe to make it at home was great. Easy to pack for lunches too. I have eaten it plain, with crackers, on bagel thins and with pretzel thins. So good!

Delicious!!! Even with canned chicken (on sale from local store and I’m not gonna turn down cheap protein lol!!) incredible with crackers, vegetables, on bagel thins….we all love it – huge hit! (Also if the onions are small enough, the onion-phobic in your family won’t even know!) FIVE stars!

I only had half the amount of yogurt that the recipe called for, so I used olive oil mayonnaise as well. It was delicious tonight, but I can only imagine how good it’s going to be tomorrow after being in the fridge overnight.

So so yummy!! I used rotisserie chicken to make it quick, but this recipe is delicious! I did leave out the regular onion just because I’m not a huge fan, but everything else I followed the recipe exactly! Can’t wait to eat it with my pita chips at lunch!

Hi! This is very good, but I have a question. This recipe says it serves 4, 1-cup servings. Then in the nutrition facts at the end of the recipe, it says a serving is 0.75 cup. I count calories as accurately has I can, so I am confused by this. Are the 150 Calories for 1 Cup of the chicken salad or 3/4 Cup? And do you have a formula for figuring the calories if I want to eat 1 Cup? Thanks.

    1. Hey! Sorry for the typo, the nutrition facts have been updated – it’s for 1 cup. However, if you count calories, the best thing is for you to put this in your counter with your exact ingredients and portion it out exactly based on what you yielded 🙂 nutrition facts are just an estimate!
