Buffalo sauce goes with pretty much ANYTHING, in my opinion.. but it certainly belongs on crispy brussels sprouts!

We love roasting brussels sprouts to crispy perfection, but when they’re doused in buffalo sauce- they’re even better.

These are not the boring, mushy brussels sprouts you grew up eating! Here’s why we love them:

Why we love these Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Brussels sprouts get a bad rep.. and for no good reason! They can be super tasty if cooked correctly. Here’s why we love them:

  • Easy to make – These brussels sprouts are easy. to make in your air fryer or oven. We prefer the oven- but both methods are quick!
  • Minimal ingredients– We only used 4 ingredients to make these brussels sprouts.
  • Fun way to eat your veggies – Bland veggies can get boring. These brussels sprouts are fun and yummy!

Ingredients

You’ll only need 4 ingredients to make buffalo brussels sprouts:

You can find substitutions for all of these ingredients below in the green shaded substitutions box.

Substitutions

Oil: You can use any oil you like. Avocado oil or coconut oil will both be great in this!

Spices: You can use any spices you like in this recipe and it will be delicious. We’ve made them with our taco seasoning and they were delicious!

Frozen Brussels Sprouts: I haven’t tried using frozen brussels sprouts for this recipe, but I think it would work fine! You might need to bake them a little longer.

Minced Garlic: You can substitute 1 teaspoon dried garlic powder or omit the garlic.

How to Make Buffalo Brussels Sprouts

You can make buffalo brussels sprouts in the oven or in the air fryer. I’ve included photos below of how to make them in the air fryer.

A bowl of brussels sprouts being tossed with buffalo sauce
  1. Preheat your air fryer. Trim brussels sprouts. Add trimmed brussels sprouts to a bowl with olive oil, franks red hot and garlic. Toss halved brussels sprouts until evenly coated.

  1. Add brussels sprouts to your air fryer basket. Set air fryer to 400 degrees, 7 minutes. Shake brussels sprouts halfway through.

So easy!

How to trim brussels sprouts

To cut brussels sprouts, you’ll first want to wash them really well.

Then, check the outside leaves and make sure there are no black spots/damaged leaves – you can peel those off.

Chop the bottom ‘stem’ part off and cut lengthwise. Some leaves will fall off, and that’s ok. those actually are the best part of roasting brussels sprouts, they taste like chips!

You can also buy precut/trimmed brussels sprouts to make this recipe even easier!

Serving Ideas

You can serve these brussels sprouts with almost anything, but they’re great paired alongside a protein. We love our Crockpot Turkey Breast or Crockpot Whole Chicken for a no fuss meal.

Baked Boneless Chicken Breasts or Grilled Chicken Thighs also go well with these brussels sprouts!

Storing Buffalo Brussels Sprouts:

How long are Roasted Brussel Sprouts good for? Leftovers will last in the fridge for 3-4 days. Brussel sprouts can get soggy, so these are best served fresh!

Can these be frozen? I wouldn’t recommend freezing these after they have been roasted. They will get soggy,

Can Roasted Brussel Sprouts be Reheated? Yes, in the oven, toaster oven, in a skillet, in the microwave, or in the air fryer. The microwave is easiest but will make them a little bit soggy, so you may want to reheat in the oven/ toaster oven or in a skillet until warm.

Have questions? We have answers!

How much is 50g of brussels sprouts?

50g of brussels sprouts is about a 1/2 cup.

Tips for crispy brussels sprouts:

  • Place your brussels sprouts flat side down. This helps them to get crunchy on the outside and crisp up on the bottom too!
  • Make sure to evenly coat brussels sprouts in olive oil. Use your hands to really massage the oil into the brussels sprouts so they get evenly coated. Evenly coated = evenly crispy!
  • Make sure brussels sprouts are in a single layer and not piled on top of each other so they roast evenly
  • If your sprouts are not golden brown after being flipped over, put them back in the oven on the bottom rack (closest to coil if electric or bottom if gas) for 2-3 minutes.
  • Make sure you are leaving them alone on the pan in the beginning. Don’t consistently move them around, give them time to roast!
