Who doesn’t love a good fruit tray? Whether it is served at a party, holiday, or just at home, there is something for everyone.

As healthy as they may seem, many fruit dip recipes are full of sugar, and store-bought dips have even more funky ingredients in them. This is exactly why I came up with this healthy yogurt fruit dip recipe. Not only is it refined sugar-free, it’s also low in calories, with 8g of protein per serving.

This dip is one of our favorites because it’s so simple to make—just stir the ingredients together. The ingredients are so common, you probably already have them in your fridge and pantry!

liz’s tips for healthy fruit dip

  1. Bring ingredients to room temperature. Using room temp ingredients will give you the smoothest consistency. Cold cream cheese is difficult to combine and will leave little lumps if it’s not completely to room temp. While it’s fine to eat this way, it isn’t very pretty to look at.
  2. For the creamiest texture, combine the ingredients really well.

Ingredients

The yogurt fruit dip is sweetened with honey, and the Neufchatel cream cheese makes it super creamy!

Substitutions

Neufchâtel Cream Cheese: Neufchâtel is just a lower fat cream cheese. We buy it in block form (not whipped). Regular cream cheese works in this recipe, but the dip will be higher in fat and calories.

Greek Yogurt: We use unflavored Greek yogurt for this recipe. Flavored versions should work. Using full fat yogurt is another possibility, but it’s likely that the fruit dip will have a thinner consistency.

Dairy Free: We do not recommend any dairy free ingredients for this recipe.

Honey: Maple syrup is a great substitute for honey, but you may not need as much. This is because honey is sweeter than maple syrup. I haven’t tried any other sweeteners.

Vanilla Extract: If you don’t have vanilla extract, you can skip it. It would then be similar to our Healthy Cream Cheese Frosting.

How to Make Healthy Fruit Dip

Note: It is very important that the ingredients are at room temperature for the smoothest dip. Microwaving the cream cheese for a few seconds can be helpful.

Best Fruit to serve with Fruit Dip

The best fruits for dipping are firm fruits like these:

  • Berries: strawberries, blueberries, blackberries or raspberries
  • Grapes
  • Pineapple
  • Apples
  • Bananas
  • Oranges
  • Melon: cantaloupe, honeydew, or watermelon
  • Other Dippers: pretzels, vanilla wafers, healthy monster cookies, etc

Serving Suggestions

You can serve the fruit dip as a simple snack or a fancy dessert—it’s completely up to you! Here are our favorite ideas:

storing Leftovers

Refrigerator: The yogurt fruit dip will keep in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. To keep it fresh, store it an airtight container.

Freezing: We don’t recommend freezing the yogurt fruit dip because freezing and thawing causes dairy products to separate and become watery.

This was delicious! I added cinnamon because I thought it would go nicely with my apple slices. My husband and kids said it was much better than the fruit dip that comes with the store bought fruit trays. Thanks for the recipe!

This was great! I had it for 2 different pool parties last weekend and it was a hit!
I added 1 squirt of liquid Stevia to make it a little more sweet. Next time I’ll try it with less honey and maybe more 0 calorie stevia to add sweetness with less calories. This is a keeper.

I made this recipe using non- dairy ingredients and it was great. I didn’t need a lot of dip so I cut everything in half. I used Kite Hill almond milk cream cheese and Kite Hill Greek style yogurt that’s made will almond milk and soy. Their dairy alternatives are so, so good. I’m not sure you would achieve the same consistency with other brands. The consistency is perfect – rich and creamy!
