SUBSTITUTIONS FOR STRAWBERRY SPINACH SALAD

Spinach: You can substitute any greens for spinach. Arugula or spring mix would also work.

Strawberries: Strawberries can be substituted for blueberries, raspberries or blackberries

Cheese: You can substitute goat cheesewith feta cheese or omit if you’re dairy free. Freshly shaved parmesan cheese would also be good

Pecans: You can omit pecans or sub with pine nuts, chopped walnuts, candied pecans, toasted almonds, or sunflower seeds.

Olive Oil: Olive Oil can be substituted with avocado oil. We don’t recommend canola oil.

Honey: Honey can be substituted for maple syrup

Mustard: I haven’t tried the dressing without mustard but I wouldn’t recommend it. It adds a little bit of flavor which the dressing needs. You could try regular or dijon mustard.

Apple Cider Vinegar: I haven’t tried this recipe with other vinegars so I can’t offer a substitute

Poppy seeds: Poppy seeds aren’t necessary for the dressing. You can omit them, but it then wouldn’t be a poppyseed dressing.

Dressing: Other dressings go great on this salad. Try our Strawberry Vinaigrette, Honey Lemon Dressing, Lemon Basil Vinaigrette, Greek Salad Dressing or any of these 11 Healthy Salad Dressing Recipes

Do you cut up spinach for salad?

I always cut up my greens before eating them. It makes it easier to digest and eat!

I wouldn’t recommend cutting your spinach for a salad if you’re planning on serving it to a crowd. Spinach does start to wilt/deteriorate as you cut it, so it might look a little sad if you cut it.

What is the best Dressing for Strawberry Spinach Salad?

Any dressing will work on this salad but my favorite is the Honey Poppyseed Dressing included in this recipe.

Our Creamy Balsamic Dressing and Lemon Basil Dressing are also delicious! You can also check out these Healthy Salad Dressing Recipes.

What to serve with Strawberry Salad:

This strawberry salad is the perfect lunch on it’s own, but we like to top it with protein. Some of our favorite proteins for topping are BBQ Chicken Breast, Healthy Chicken Salad and Grilled chicken Thighs

What are benefits of eating strawberries?

Strawberries are such a delicious and healthy addition to your diet. They’re low in calorie, naturally sweet and loaded with vitamins.

1 cup of strawberries has under 60 calories, making them the perfect snack or addition to any meal.

How to Store Strawberry Spinach Salad

This salad is best when eaten fresh but will last in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

After a few days, the strawberries will start to get a little bit slimy and will not be as crisp/fresh.

I make this salad often. Tonight I used Spring Mix Isince that’s what I had also threw in some red onion slivers. You can’t go wrong with this salad. The dressing is great and I like it on other salads that I make containing fruit.
