It’s no secret that I LOVE Costco! It is one of my favorite places to shop and helps keep my grocery budget SUPER low (I’m talking sometimes less than $5 a day to feed 2 people (crazy, right!)
While Costco is often known for selling lots of not-so-nutritious frozen foods and junk, they also have a ton of healthy food/staples that are great if you’re doing a Whole30!

Even if you’re not doing a Whole30, make sure to check your Costco for these healthy finds – they’re products everyone can use and love!
(Something to note – not all Costco’s carry the same products, what I find in my stores may not be available at your store, but definitely as the staff as they might be able to help get it for you! I’ve included a picture of my cart for you for reference!
Whole30 Costco Pantry Staples
A lot of my Whole30 pantry staples are from Costco. They’re affordable and convenient for stocking up on! My only problem is that I never seem to find enough room to store everything 🙂 Here are some of the things I always keep on hand…
Oils: Costco has so many different Whole30 friendly oils to choose from. We often buy their olive oil because we go through so much olive oil. I like the Filippo Berrio Brand but the Kirkland brand is also good!
The coconut oil is a great price, but is also usually a huge container so if you don’t plan to use it frequently I’d skip getting that huge jar!
Dried Figs/Dates: I don’t eat a ton of dried fruit in general because it’s so high in sugar, but if you want to get figs or dates at a good price you can’t beat the ones at Costco!
Salsa: Unfortunately Costco doesn’t have a ton of Whole30 friendly salsa. Mateo’s was the only jarred salsa I could find on the shelves that had Whole30 ingredients as well as one refrigerated one I found pictured later on in this post.
Your Costco might have more than mine! We love salsa on top of my Whole30 Chicken Fajitas!
Spices: I can’t talk about how AWESOME Costco’s spices are enough. We buy almost all of our spices there in bulk and use the big containers to refill smaller bottles.
It’s so cheap and they have so many options! They even have a Trader Joe’s Everything but the Bagel Seasoning CopyCat!
Kalamata Olives: So flavorful. I use them in my Whole30 Greek Chicken Zucchini Noodles and they’re just DELISH!
Canned Tuna: In case you need something quick for lunch
Canned Tomatoes: – I usually buy Tuttorosso Tomatoes in bulk when at Costco, I’ve also bought the Kirkland diced tomatoes to use in soups and chili (they weren’t my favorite but are a really good price!).
Nina tomatoes might be local to CT. The giant cans of Contadina tomatoes are awesome if you’re making a big batch of Healthy Crockpot Tomato Sauce, but otherwise they’re too big for just a small week night dinner!
If you’re feeling super lazy.. there’s always Rao’s sauce which is always delish!
Sauces/Condiments – It’s hard to find condiments that are Whole30 friendly. I found these Primal Kitchen Greek Dressings at my Costco the other day.
These are pretty pricey at Whole Foods so if you see them, stock up. I usually also buy Frank’s Red Hot but otherwise there isn’t much in terms of sauces!
Whole30 Costco Produce
Basically anything in the produce section is Whole30 approved. You know the deal.. basically eat all the fruits and veggies! However, there are a few things from Costco that I get every time I go there. Usually I opt for heartier produce that will last longer in my fridge. Here are some of my favorites:
- Heartier veggies that last long in your fridge: think carrots, celery, brussels sprouts, green beans, potatoes, etc
- Lemons + limes – we drink so much lemon water and put lime juice on a lot of our food so it’s worth it for us to buy the big bags!
- Riced Cauliflower – Yes, you can 100% make your own riced cauliflower + broccoli.. but buying this is so much easier. I usually can’t use up a whole bag of it at once so I’ll freeze the other half and use in smoothies (when not on a round 🙂 )
- Greens – You’ll eat ALOT of greens on Whole30! I like to buy spinach or mixed greens. Whatever I don’t eat I freeze for smoothies!
- Salsa – I love this fresh salsa. So good on eggs or taco bowls!
Guacamole – Who doesn’t love guac? My favorite guacamole from Costco is Good Foods brand. It comes in 3 separate containers so it doesn’t get funky and brown! Our Costco also carries Wholly Guacamole in both large sizes and single serving portions.
Both of these guacamole’s are Whole30 compliant. They’re also really yummy! Perfect for serving on top of these Paleo Turkey Taco Stuffed Delicata Squash
Depending on the season you can get pre-cut butternut squash which is amazing. Butternut squash can be a pain to cut – so I think it’s worth it to pay a little extra to have this!
I also will usually buy one type of fruit from Costco (berries, apples, bananas, etc). Since we are only 2 people, we usually can’t buy more than one type of fruit because we simply can’t eat it quick enough before it goes bad!
Whole30 Costco Meats
Costco has a great variety of really affordable meats. You can get regular conventional meats- or if you want grass fed/free range they have that too! Plus their frozen section has SO many awesome things. I love stocking up on the frozen goods because you can always know they’re there in a pinch!
Organic ground beef – I usually buy my ground beef via ButcherBox but sometimes will get it at Costco. The beef pictured above is $4.99 a lb, but if you opt for the non-organic it is usually less than $2 a lb at our Costco!
Chicken/Pork/Turkey – I buy a few things every time I go to Costco with out fail: Regular chicken breasts, Ground Turkey and Pork. For chicken, I opt for the regular chicken in a clear package with red on the label. (sometimes I’ll opt for organic but it’s usually not in my budget) I also like to buy the whole young chickens.
For pork I get Smithfield pork tenderloins (come in 2 packs of 2). Great for making this Healthy Crockpot Pulled Pork with! For turkey I buy the Butterball ground turkey. It comes in 4 individual packets that are a little over 1 lb each!
Deli meat: It’s super hard to find Whole30 compliant deli meat. This Plainville Oven Roasted Turkey is available at most Costcos, as is this Prosciutto di Parma
Smoked Pulled Pork – I haven’t tried this because I love my own Healthy Crockpot Pulled Pork recipe, but I’ve heard it’s awesome!
Sausage – This Aidell’s Chicken & Apple is very popular in the Whole30 community + you can get it for an awesome price at Costco! Unfortunately that was the only sausage I could find at my store that is compliant.
Turkey Bubba Burgers (frozen) – These are very simple.. no flavoring in them at all. You can eat them as is, or you can crumble them up and use them for a quick stir fry.
Chicken Breasts (frozen) These are individually wrapped frozen chicken breasts. Great if you’re just one person or just need to defrost something quickly for a meal.
Seafood (frozen) – I personally don’t eat seafood but they have a tooooon of frozen seafood that would be great if you like it!
Whole30 Costco ‘Snacks’
If you’re doing a Whole30 you know that ‘snacking’ isn’t encouraged, and certain foods (like bars) should only be eaten as an ’emergency food’. Be sure to follow the meal template!
Bars – Costco sells sells LaraBars, RXBars, and Epic Bars – many of which are Whole30.As always make sure you’re following the meal template, and check ingredients. Not all bars are complaint and certain bars by these brands are not complaint. Every Costco sells different bars 🙂
Nut Butters: I love the Kirkland brand Almond Butter! I’ve also seen cashew butter at my Costco. Make sure you read ingredients to make sure there are no extra sugars because formulas change from time to time and I wouldn’t want to steer you wrong 🙂
Nuts/Seeds –They have any and every nut/seed you can think of at Costco. Try to stay away from the flavored/roasted ones because they typically have non-compliant ingredients.
Raw walnuts, pecans, cashews or almonds are great to have on hand. You can use them to make almond milk, or in recipes like this Whole 30 Pecan Crusted Chicken Cutlets. Nuts are also great on top of a salad for a plated fat! All nuts pictured below are Whole30 compliant.
Random Things I also like to grab at Costco:
Eggs – You’ll eat a ton of eggs on whole30 (if that’s your thing!) and you can get them at a great price at Costco!
Kombucha – They sell GTS’s Trilogy and Gingerade at my Costco which is awesome! I usually drink 1/3 of a bottle at a time because I find them to be sweet.
Drinks – If you like LaCroix you can get a huge variety pack of them at Costco!
Containers – Costco also has great deals on containers. When you do a Whole30 you’ll quickly find that you prep ALOT of food! I bought a really nice set of glass containers at Costco that I’ve had forever
