In our opinion, a healthy dinner recipe is:

- made of real food (minimally processed/packaged foods
Your definition might be a little bit different from ours – but we think this is a great base, and it’s how we cook our meals. Many of these recipes are also paleo, whole30, gluten and dairy free in case you follow those diets!
Tools for getting healthy dinners on the table quickly:
These are my favorite kitchen tools. We use them almost every day!
- A crockpot is great because you can set it + forget it. We have tons of healthy crockpot recipes on our site.
- Instant Pot – I don’t love my instant pot as much as my crockpot, but it is great for making soups, or cooking grains like rice or farro
- Food processor – You can get a food processor for under $15 on Amazon. It makes chopping veggies SO QUICK. Here’s the one I have – I swear I couldn’t live without it!
- Mixer – We love our mixer for making meatball batter, or for shredding chicken. It’s one of our favorite kitchen tools
- Knife – Having a good, sharp knife can make all the difference in the kitchen. If you’re cutting with dull knives, it’s going to take longer to cut all those veggies! This is the knife I use every day. It’s easy to control and works beautifully! You can read all the 5 star reviews here.

Healthy Dinner Recipe: Hamburger Helper
- 1 lb. Ground Beef
- 1/2 onion chopped finely
- 3 cups rotini pasta sub penne or medium shells (10 oz)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1.5 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 tablespoon tomato paste
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Heat a pan over medium high heat. Spray the pan with cooking spray.
- Brown ground beef and onion in the pan until cooked through- about 10 minutes.
- Add in the seasonings, Worcestershire sauce, pasta, broth, tomato paste and water. Stir, cover and bring to a boil.
- Once boiling, remove cover and reduce to a simmer, stirring occasionally for 12-14 minutes or until pasta is done and liquid is reduced by 3/4.
- Move the pan off the heat and add in shredded cheese.
- Stir until combined, taste for salt and pepper and add more as desired.
